Reflections: Mission

It have been long since i blogged.
I wonder who will read this,
but i hope whoever who came across this
will always be filled with hope and compassion.

This Mystic Law
is one that really transforms lives.
Through Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo,
through faith,
through study,
through action,
we manifest courage, compassion, wisdom and lifeforce.

This year is a very significant year for the Soka Gakkai.
It marks many important anniversaries.
And this year,
i have taken on 2 leadership roles in SSA.
They are:
Tanah Merah Central District 1- Assistant District Leader
Temasek Polytechnic Student Division: Campus I/C
To me,
it is a very important mission.
As a leader, I vow to give my all in fulfilling this role.
There are always things for us to learn,
things for us to challenge.

The path may be tough,
but
"The darker the night, the nearer the dawn."
By persevering and challenging with strong fighting spirit,
nothing can defeat a determined person.
So this year i resolve to:
1. Do my human revolution
2. Treasure and love everyone around me
3. Carry out Kosen Rufu joyously
4. Be a good leader and contribute my best in Gakkai

A true victor is not one who is rich.
A true victor, is one who is never defeated.
A true victor, is one who fights for justice.
A true victor, is one who lived his life to the fullest.

Nothing is easy,
but because of that,
we will never take things for granted.
In Buddhism, everything happens for a reason.
Everyone have a unique mission to fulfil.
And only we can take on that mission.
Lets be the one who takes the initiative!

"Even the darkest places can be illuminated."
We must always remember,
there is no deadlock in Buddhism.
There is no dead end.
We must always forge ahead!
As someday, we will find happiness for ourselves and for others.

Successors of Soka!
Lets Rock the Era!
Together with Sensei!!!

Guidance #4

From: Creative Life, May 2009
Be disciples who share the same destiny as their mentor!
Be disciples who share the same joys and sorrows as their mentor!
Be disciples who share the same goals as their mentor!
Be disciples who share the same triumphs as their mentor!
Be disciples who share the same life as their mentor!
-Second Soka Gakkai President, Josei Toda

The struggles our presidents have faced,
the challenges they took on,
are truly noble.
They have strived,
no matter how tough the path is,
with their minds set on the goals, for Kosen-Rufu.
It is definitely not easy,
but they strived till the end.
They have such great compassion, courage, and lifeforce,
they have worked so hard for everyone.
This is their mission, and they did it.

Let us, disciples of sensei,
take on this mission,
and move alongside with him!
Let us, disciples of sensei,
take the vow for Kosen-Rufu!
Let us, disciples of sensei,
challenge every obstacle with the lion's roar!
For this is our mission, our life, our cry !

Reflections: Chanting Daimoku

yoz~
i have decided to make it an effort to blog,
and share whatever i have learnt !
yep yep!
i will make the effort to attend every friday dinner
and every meetings, and absorb and learn as much as i can! =)
then i will share it here ^^
this time, the topic is about chanting daimoku.
From TPSD Friday Dinner:

1. when we chant, we should:
a. set concrete and specific prayers
b. pray with determination and strong faith
c. believe that we have buddhahood and have the right ichinern

2. Besides chanting, it is important that we take actions.
With the wisdom, lifeforce and courage manifested, together with the actions,
we will score victory.

3. Both quality and quantity are important in chanting daimoku.
Quality means to concentrate and focus,
while quantity means to chant more.

Testimonial shared:
- a mother who has a son who is disabled.
- had to carry his son to and from school everyday,
for a total of around 15 years.
- never gave up, and persevered.
- the son entered university in the end.
- all the efforts was worth it.

well, that was all i could remember
was not feeling well so thats the most i can absorb..
still, it was a great time !=)

Reflections: Paying Gratitude

Yo!
It have been long since i last updated.
Well, updating it means i want to share something!
The thing i want to share is:
Paying gratitude.
I learnt it from Friday Dinner (TPSD)
I am really inspired by the sharing.

1. We should always pay gratitude for what we have.
To our family, who gives us support, parents, who gave us this life.
To our friends, for being there for us, for everything they did.
To our sensei, for guiding us, giving us encouragements (Mentor-Disciple Spirit)

2. Never be complacent
We must remember to pay gratitude and not slacken just because of joy.

3. To be stronger in faith, and participate more in Kosen Rufu.
This way, we are paying our gratitude to gohozon,
and also to our sensei, for his objective is for the happiness of everyone.
Also, we are paying our gratitude by sharing happiness with everyone.

4. In order to be stronger in faith, we must have the foundation:
a. Faith
b. Practice
c. Study

5. Sensei's efforts and struggles for Kosen Rufu. (NHR)
Sensei did all his best despite his weak health, just for the happiness of the members.
He never gave up, and still went ahead to give enouragements.
His spirit of Kosen Rufu is truly inspiring, and we should learn from it.
With the Mentor-Disciple spirit, we should work even harder,
with our sensei and all others, for the success of Kosen Rufu.

After the Friday Dinner,
i really felt inspired.
I realised the importance of working hard in faith,
the importance of sharing with others.
Who knows how much we have touched the hearts of others.
Like the person who shared it, have definately
inspired the listeners who attened the Friday Dinner,
including me.
The heart of sharing, the sincerity for the happiness of others,
is what touched us.
This is where absolute happiness is. =)

Guidance #3

From: Daily Guidance
Only after surviving the harsh trial winter
can seeds burst into fresh growth in the springtime.
Similiarly, only by surmounting hardships
can we be victorious in life and
savour real, lasting joy.
Conversely, if we shun difficulties and lose our challenging spirit,
then all we'll be left with in the end is failure and regret.
Therefore, please blaze a trail through the "forest of difficulty"
we find ourselves in and that tomorrow we work aain
energetically for kosen-rufu.

My FeeLinGs #1

Recently i had been feeling rather depressed.
I was having my orientation for the past 3 days.
Well, i had fun, and was rather high.
But i was not as happy as i appear to be..
Reason being i feel that i couldn't make many friends,
i felt alone.
While others had their friends to walk and talk with,
i was alone.

Surprisingly,
my leader sms-ed me,
asking me to prepare something for the discussion meeting.
As usual,
she encouraged me to defeat my fear of speaking in front of
many ppl..
That was during my orientation.
Of course i would take up the role,
although i will feel stressed and nervous.
But i really want to play a part in the district.
At that time,
i was feeling rather depressed.
My leader then sent me long messages of encouragements,
telling me that i should not give up,
i should overcome it.
She told me that no matter what i face,
i should always go back to daimoku.

I haven't been chanting and doing my gongyo
during the orientation days
as i was DEAD TIRED.
When the orientation ended,
i went back to daimoku and gongyo.
And read the previous encouragements from
the Daily Guidance,
which i read everytime i do my gongyo,
i always feel charged when i do that.
I was surprised.
"Human relationship problems are opportunities
for you to grow and mature.
Such problems can be character building
if you don't let them defeat you."
No words can describe how i felt.
I was deeply touched.
Just two sentences.

I shouldn't envy those who
are naturally outspoken.
I should be glad,
that we are facing these problems.
Because i can gain something which
they cant.
One day when i succeed,
i will gain the sense of satisfaction
and achievement.
At that time,
i will be stronger than them,
i can proudly say that i won
over my own weaknesses.

I am fortunate,
to have great leaders,
who always bombard me with encouragements.
I am fortunate,
to have such a good sensei,
who wrote lots of encouragements,
for our happiness.
I am fortunate,
to have Faith and Gohozon.

I may not have received great benefits
like becoming rich or something.
But its the heart that matters.
This is where absolute happiness is.

Guidance #2
From: Daily Guidance
A stone wall that seems infinitely high
when seen from the ground,
appears no more than a slightly raised
boundary line when viewed from an airplane.
Similarly,
if your life-condition changes for the better,
so will the way you view and respond to things.
You'll find yourself surmounting every adversity
and hardship with composure,
and thoroughly enjoying the drama of life.

My ThouGhts #1

From: Myself
In life, there are bound to be many problems.
The society may seem to be ugly,
at times,
the world may be in total darkness..
However,
this should not stop us from pursuing absolute happiness.
The darker the world appear to be,
the more we should shine brightly.
Let us all illuminate the world,
like the shining bright stars in the night sky.

Words from me:
I believe as long as we don't give up,
as long as we persevere,
one day we will succeed.
I am trying my best now,
climbing up the high mountain.
It may be tedious.
But i strongly believe that one day,
i will be able to reach the top,
and shout to the rest of the world:
"I did it!"
Its all thanks to the ppl who guide me,
to sensei,
and to Faith
that i have become more positive now.
=)
